Supporting the Charles Sturt University Foundation
Friends of Charles Sturt University, both corporate and individual, are able to provide support to the University through the Charles Sturt University Foundation. Donations have helped Charles Sturt University become one of the largest regional universities in Australia and allow graduates and staff to contribute to the economic, social and cultural development of their communities.
Continued support helps Charles Sturt University place a priority on areas of regional and professional importance as well as provide valuable assistance in the way of scholarships to students. The Charles Sturt University Foundation has many programs that enhance University life and the educational experiences of our students.
Funded positions
Donors to the Foundation have provided financial support to fund the salary of an academic position for a specified period of time.
Cooperative research projects
Some donors have supported research projects at the University. Some of these have involved cooperation with the sponsoring company.
Capital development
Some donors have contributed funds through the Foundation to the University's capital works program both in the construction of the Centre for Professional Development and the CD Blake Auditorium.
The former facility is used by both Charles Sturt University and outside clients for conferences and accommodation.
The latter is a multi-purpose facility that caters for graduation and other large ceremonies as well as housing a gymnasium, basketball courts and offices.
Bequests
Some donors have left part of their estate in their wills to support program sat the University.
Guest lectureships
Donors to the Foundation may be invited to present guest lectures and workshops to students that provide valuable insights to the industry they represent.
Scholarship scheme
Our Scholarship scheme has assisted more than 2800 students to complete their studies since its establishment in 1984. The Foundation awards more than $500,000 in scholarships each year with the total amount of endowment allocated to scholarships in excess of $4,000,000.
