About Us

The University Advancement Unit

On behalf of the university community, the University Advancement Unit creates and builds relationships with friends, supporters, and our worldwide network of Charles Sturt University alumni.

Contributions of time, wisdom, and funds from this network of individuals and businesses help CSU meet its academic and strategic goals and create a better learning experience for our students, which in turn helps us encourage innovative research and nurture tomorrow's industry leaders.

It is the Unit's job to initiate and develop these relationships. Working closely with the University's senior leadership, the Unit leads and coordinates effective alumni relations, fundraising, stewardship and related communication efforts to find potential partners and match their personal priorities to University needs.

The team ensures that alumni, supporters, donors and potential donors have a meaningful and mutually beneficial partnership with Charles Sturt University.

Who are CSU's Alumni?

CSU alumni are graduates, current and former staff as well as former students (who may not have graduated). This includes those from Charles Sturt University as well as its predecessor institutions.

A graduate is defined as someone who has received an award which has been approved by the Charles Sturt University Council, Board of Governors, Academic Senate or the governing bodies of its predecessor institutions. A complete list of all awards offered by the predecessor institutions of Charles Sturt University at the time the University was established (in 1989) plus all the awards approved by the Board of Governors or by the Academic Senate and its predecessor bodies can be found here.

Charles Sturt University Alumni

Charles Sturt University has a long and proud history in education which began in the late 1800's when both the Wagga Wagga and Bathurst campuses were Experimental Farms. These farms were established in response to the plight of farming in the colony of New South Wales and were involved in the notable experimentation, education and research which changed the face of New South Wales agriculture.

Following this was a progression in education, from teachers' colleges, an agricultural college, colleges of advanced education and then to the establishment of Charles Sturt University in 1989.

CSU alumni are a part of this remarkable history and being connected brings links for life.
